Under Water Side Scroller Background

Hi everyone,

I am currently working on a FREE android app where you are a fish and you dodge enemies under water. I'm sorry, but it probably won't be open source but maybe in the future I could release the code on my website as a side-scroller app template. A new feature that is soon coming is a shop where you can buy power ups or hats for your fish. All of the code is finished and I made most of the enemys, but all I need is an in-game background. I am working on an ipad's resolution (1024x768) and it's a side scroller so it kind of needs to be seamless.

I am pretty good with small scale art such as characters but I am horrible with large scale stuff. Here is my fish, and jellyfish. It is pixel art but the background doesn't have to be.

Here's an example of what I vision the background to look like, except with a little less sunlight rays and maybe a small sea floor (sand with a couple small plants).

Here's a little over view of what features I have planned:

1) A shop with in-game items

2) More enemys (all i have is a shark and jellyfish)

3) More spawnable powerups and buyable powerups

4) Scrolling Background while in-game that can loop without huge notice (Size needs to be 1024x768)

5) Buyable levels

6) Actions for the fish such as spitting bubbles or dashing forward

7) Different fish with different strenghts

I hope I can find voulenteers to create the background, and maybe more enemys (maybe starfish or sea cucumber. It does'nt have to be realistic at all :D ). I can offer a name, link to the art creator's website, and Image of creator within the credits of the Android game to whoever creates the images.

Thank you all so much!

Scribe's picture

I made this
It might not be good enough quality for your final product but its at least a resonable placeholder!

Good luck with your game, the style of the sprites are great,

That looks great! I actually just recently changed it to be the iphone dimensions (320x480) and this image scaled down beautifully!

And thanks for the links I think I'll try to make my own cuz the ones in his examples look great! My only problem is How do i get it to be seamless? What method did you use Scribe?

Thanks a ton!
