The Secret Chronicles of Dr. M...
Our project is known as The Secret Chronicles of Dr. M (abbreviated TSC). We are a fork of a well known open source game, Secret Maryo Chronicles. We changed the name of the game in this release in order to avoid obvious references to Mario. We still have 2D head stomping platformer action, though.
As part of an effort to not be viewed as a Mario clone, we have been overhauling Mario style graphics and music. Unfortunately, we still have a number of Mario remixes in our music collection and do not yet have suitable replacements. We have not reached any of our contributing musicians in a while. This has been delaying our planned release, since we really need the first release under the new name to be free of major Mario references.
If you are able to compose new music (or have music you have already composed), it would greatly help us. This is a good chance to get your music into an actual game or to compose new music for a game.
These are the songs we are needing replaced:
• https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Secretchronicles/TSC/release-2.0.0/tsc... - Super Mario World land level music
• https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Secretchronicles/TSC/release-2.0.0/tsc... - Super Mario World general map music
• https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Secretchronicles/TSC/release-2.0.0/tsc... - Super Mario World Vanilla Dome music
• https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Secretchronicles/TSC/release-2.0.0/tsc... - Super Mario 64 Bob-Omb Battlefield music (this is also our default music for new levels right now)
• https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Secretchronicles/TSC/release-2.0.0/tsc... - Super Mario Bros. Invincibility music
•https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Secretchronicles/TSC/release-2.0.0/tsc... - Super Mario World player dying music
We will of course take additional music as long as it is something we can use.
If you submit music, we would appreciate it if you could submit it at our forum at: http://forum.secretchronicles.de/forums. This way there is no doubt we have permission to use it.
Our game is open source (https://github.com/Secretchronicles/TSC), and we normally place music under the CC-BY-SA 4.0 license unless otherwise discussed.
There also is a strong need for game artists now, but I'm keeping this post focused on music. Programmers, level editors, and package managers are also welcome.
I've attached some screenshots of gameplay from the current release.
