For a while I was sick, so not updated my collection, but soon I plan to fix it.
I am currently working on a set of effects - projectiles, explosions, etc.
These effects will be universal for Space Theme, and for Top Down Shooter. But probably their creation takes a lot of timebecause I am working in parallel on several things.

One of the things that I'm working in parallel - a whole new set of units for top down shooter. These characters will be more sophisticated and well-developed in detail, so I plan to add to them portraits and weapons.
But while I do not know will I put them here, or try to create my own game with this staff.
In any case, I will share progress in this direction here. Yet I only have a few sketches. I called them freelancers.

If you can create the remaining artwork to complete a full game then making your own game might be best. I would love to have these assets be open source.
Would you be turning this concept art into 2d or 3d? pixel art?

I'm didn't use any specific tutorials (everything are useful), but maybe, some day, I'll make my own :)
Some new staff — project logo, and battle mech, that I named after the hero of the russian fairy tale "Kolobok". Hero is a small spherical creature made from dough.
Battle Mech "Kolobok" is something like Kalashnikov rifle in our time — reliable, unpretentious, cheap which is why very popular weapon.

I'd still love myself some really big capital ships, like then times the size of what is currently available but at the same level of quality. The other big thing are obviously animations, like explosions and debris for the ships and asteroids and death animations for the little guys. The flamethrower and engine effects also suffer from being static.
Other than that, great art as usual.
Vidmaster, I will make the ships, but a little later, don't worry, I'm didn't forgot about it. Thanks for feedback, I will consider all нщгк suggestions, just not sure about animations, cause this is not my not my strong point.

Thanks! Having permission to animate your characters would be a joyful collaboration for me since I am learning animation.
Additional action sprites could be a further collaboration. But I am happy animating the great work you have already done.
Did shooting animations for the Leader, Scout, Pyro(used gas though), Cannoneer, and Sniper. Criticism welcome.
I would appreciate any developers that could give me a build of a top down shooter using these animations. So that I can see them in action and fine tune.

The space ships are gorgeous, the soldiers are gorgeous, it's all very cool!
How long did it take you to do this (say the space ships alone)?
Would it be ok if I were to use your art in a game that I would release in an exclusive sponsorship agreement in which the sponsor (Newgrounds, Armourgames, etc.) would pay a certain amount to have exclusive rights to the game for a certain amount of time? Because I know CC-BY-SA license can be tricky to use in profit situations. Of course I would credit you. If this is not possible would you be willing to add CC-BY licence? Thanks.
PS: The game would be totally free to play.

Hi Tatermand: i was wondering is it possible to get the psd files where the glow effect (blue(back), yellow(front)) has not jet applied, i want to try and use them in my game but i want to do some shadere effects but that glow is not helping me.

phao1989, thank you! The key problem in any collaboration with me that's I'm not native English speaker, actually I'm from Ukraine and my main language is Russian. For one spaceship in middle size I spend from 1.5 to 4 hours, it's depends on detail and external circumstances;
tim_supermonkey, you can use any art, if sponsorship does not imply that the rights of the art will be owned by the sponsor. The cover looks great!

Tatermand: Yes i would still very mutch apreciate it. for one of my game programming classes i need to work with shaders would like to youse your sprites. and generate the glow and light effects. i can remove some glow parts but not all.

More impressive artwork as usual. Thanks for the update. Anyway you could record yourself creating one of these drawings? or when you decide to do a new character? Your tutorial really showed the different steps and what to do but I still don't know how to do it myself. It might be easier if I saw what you did.

Would you be able to possibly make walking animations for any of them? The stuff you has done for firing animations has been great.
Tatermand any interest in creating legs for these characters? The best references I could find were Hotline Miami and this: http://opengameart.org/content/top-down-runner
I could try and create legs following Tatermands' tutorial and do a walk animation. But to put my other projects on the backburner I would want assurance that my work would be used in a game. Do you have video footage or an alpha build of your game?

Sorry for slow reply. I would say thats totally fair, and actually running animations might not be my highest priority. I think finding textures and assets for level design and terrain are something that would matter more. Also i am working on getting to a prototype state and its a bit involved but I will return with gameplay!
But if anyone knows of any location or has any terrain or set pieces that would match this aesthetic like in his concept pictures would be greatly appreciated.
Possible to use this art in a commercial game?

-Probable leads to beautiful experimental prototype game creation, prototype is actually more important then finished result because of chance to try things you would not use in normal circumstances. OK, I`m just right now experience open third eye why is this site slow sometimes, it appears that 30+ post per page is bad managed by engine, I hope that our Admin medicinestorm read this. Next button(or arrow) or number buttons page(by page) will eventually solve this mess or not, just suggestion.
