Hi my name is Vincent Legendre and I'm developping a webbased wargame called Full Metal Galaxy.

It is based on full metal planete (cf http://www.solvalou.com/boardgames/fmp/) and is already played by few people.

It currently look like this: http://www.fullmetalgalaxy.com/game.jsp?id=/puzzles/tutorial/model.bin (only in french at the moment)

screenshot01

Despite my effort, the tile set I've build for several planete aren't very playable...
Are anybody already have similar tiles or are interested to help me ?

Attached file is a zip (rename extention) that contain a local html version to make some quick tests.
http://opengameart.org/sites/default/files/forum_attachments/FMG-graphic...

A tile set contain 7 tiles: sea, recif-low, recif-hight, mash-low, mash-high, plain, montain.
http://www.fullmetalgalaxy.com is fully open source.

I won't be able to create hex tiles for you but I can suggest two project that you can legally use the art from.

Battle for Wesnoth and FreeCiv both have a range enviroments for hex tiles. Both projects have their art licensed under the GPL, IIRC.

Is there an English version of the project website?

I'm looking for theses two projects that contain hex tile and it should help me, specialy Wesnoth. In other hand, I can't use transition tile in my projet, it's a different graphic style and I need two versions of reef and swamp.

So, if I want specific image for my need, what's roughly the price of such tile set (7 hex tiles 77x40px) ?

@Charlie, I'm not sure what do you mean by project website. I'm hosting code on google code and try to put comment, few doc and issues in english.
The game website is hosted by google app engine and is in french only... I did some technical test and game itself is almost translated. But as I'm alone, I'll try to launch it before translate it and seek again for partners :)

You could ask on the FreeGameDev forums as well as here:

http://forum.freegamedev.net/

There's quite a few native French speakers posting there so it may help.

Hello,

Since this post, the game is getting more players, bug fix but is still in french only.If you are interested in contributting on such game, only if we could play in english, let me know it's in the roadmap, I'll have to switch priority ! I've made some try with other ressources as proposed but wasn't satisfied with the result. Some constraints:
- I need similay tile with high and low tide.
- very readable as land have a big impact on strategy
- look cooherent with current unit (render with blender)
- FMG don't need a reallitic texture nor a pixelised 16 colors flat tiles
- I've trouble to get a proper montain on a single hexagon
You can chose the licence (FMG is using AGPL)I can convert square tile into hexagon.
One suggest me to use blender to get a similar look to units...
here an example of what it may look:

So it is 7 tiles 77*40 (we can discuss about size). How much this work can cost ?Are anybody interested to contribute (for free or paid) ?
