It's a failed experiment because the intent was for a clean and simple console platformer style (think Sonic or Mario) instead I got carried away with my usual process of premature colour consolidation and burying every available pixel in noise.

This isn't a failed experiment if you considered either emulating the 1st gen SNES era (90-91 when dark shades were looked heavily down upon to distance itself from Megadrive) or the GBA style games (where the screen is so dark you NEEDED bright ugly garish pastel colors)
