2D and 3D artwork needed for OGS Mahjong (3D board game)

Recently I've posted to the "Show off your project" forum about OGS Mahjong: http://opengameart.org/forumtopic/ogs-mahjong-07-3d-board-game

As you can see, it needs better GUI, better tiles, better board, better skybox. All these include both 3D models and 2D textures.

Since I'm no artist I can't tell what I need exactly. I can only ask for a more beautiful art than the game has at the moment. If anyone is willing to help, you're welcome. You will be granted a thank-you note in About :)

kornerr has agreed to let me do a little art direction for his game, so here's what I'd like to see, specifically:

He's already using a set of nice tiles:

Thematically, I'd like to see this take on an ancient chinese theme.  Here's some specific stuff we could use:

  • A table model using a texture from this set: http://opengameart.org/content/3-seamless-darkwood-textures
  • A room from a medieval house (either a skybox or modeled).  If it's a skybox, it needs to be pretty high resolution.
  • For the UI, we need a set of numbers and letters that look brush painted.
  • We'll also need some small UI background pieces that look like chinese wall scrolls.  You can see an example here: http://chineseartstore.com/catalog/antique-look-chinese-wall-scroll-pain...

It might be useful to get some acutal pictures of old chinese wall scrolls.  If they're originals, they'll be in the public domain, so if you can find them and take a picture of them, it would be legal to use them as textures.

If any artists have questions, kornerr or I would be happy to answer them.

I can also answer any questions about OGS Mahjong.

A room from a medieval house (either a skybox or modeled).  If it's a skybox, it needs to be pretty high resolution.

We can use both modeled background and a skybox. But even hi-res skyboxes (2048x2048x6) looks a bit dirty. So, the good way, IMHO, is to combine modeled environment (room, garden, something like that) with skybox.

We have some new tile meshes.

But the background is still desperately need improvements.
