ut oh, really cutting it close over here, is the deadline start of the day on the 28th or the end of the day?

I guess an exact UTC time would help, although being flexible would also help!

Still pretty sure I can make it, core idea is the gamification of my PixelPaletteTool, so about 90% of the code was already done.   Of course, PixelPaletteTool was all written this month, so I hope it's still fair play to borrow some of it's code for the competition.

Got a title screen and core gameplay done though, just need to give the presentation some love.

Plus add sound, and music and more art...

Im not sure how to work out a UTC time, im not sure what itch.io will do either, all i can say is for me (UK) i have to be finished by Sat 12.00am, so basically Friday 11.59pm. however those in other countrys will have to keep their eye on the countdown clock on the game jam page. they to may have to be submitted by then as well. If you know how to work out a UTC that would be great, but like i said, im not sure itch will take that into account. :)

Sorry!

I do not know why this happened, if I upload the game from website, it shows the error, and when I use butler, the error message is about runtime error. My game is quite easy, just a shooting gallary. my code is here https://github.com/xinmingzhang/Duckshooting. Now I just turn help for my friend, hope he can help me to upload.

Got the castle lobby done, but ther isn't much to do. Wall textures need to be modified and the lighting is horrible. Player seems to teleport up the stairs in the back, not sure if that can be fixed. Camera has a few bugs, but it self-detects walls. Might just have a door that warps to the test area as the first world for now. The story might just be a batch of text if I cannot finish the images. I'll try to add some stuff before tomorrow, but I'll mainly be arranging the credits. Might put the credit into the game itself. Whish I could have gotten the transformations programmed, and maybe an enemy.

So, I'm new to Itch. I'm a bit afraid to "submit" until the absolute last minute because I don't want to submit early, then find a bug or be able to continue improving it, and be unable to re-submit because itch may tell me "you've already submitted!". On the other hand. If something goes wrong, and I miss the deadline because I waited until the last minute to submit, I'll be pretty bummed.

What's the operation here? Can I submit whenever, then resubmit a newer version before the deadline with no penalty? Alternatively, Am I able to submit for the game jam, but continue to improve it and put newer versions up on my own itch page?

@medicinestorm you can submit anytime from now until the jam ends, once submitted it automatiaclly generates a page for your game, from which I believe you can update as much as you need to. Apparently after the jam ends I will then able to create a "late submission' link, however your game must already have a published page in order for me to post/add the late submission link.

this is my first game jam I've ever done, so this is very much a learning curve for me. I would submit your game then make the neccessary changes as you find them. I have no problem with bug fixing during the voting stage if it's possible, the games will be played and voting on at whatever stage they are at.

i hope that the voting and comments are not to critical because of bugs, it is just a bit of fun, and a great way to see the assets in use from here at OGA.

my game has so many bugs and I'm not going to able to get it to a state I wanted it to be, but hey ho, you can only do what you can do.:)

@chasersgaming. Finally, my friend helped me upload the game, though still has minor problem, but at least I creat an entry. It seemed not many entries, maybe many people thought this is just the coding time, they have extra time to upload :)  Thank you for the hard work to hold such a game jam, and I have chance to see what other people do with OGA :)

@xmzhang thanks , I'm glad you got your game on, I wouldn't worry to much about bugs, mine has a lot, and I have no more time find and fix them all, I can only make notes on what I know and make players aware of them. Looking forward to playing all the games submitted.:)

Unfortunately I was alittle distracted by moving city, as well as losing time to other game jams...

So this video is all that exists of my entry :(

I hope everyone had a good jam!

@Noonan.Design:  No worries, hope the move went well!  That video did have me excited for your entry, but there's always next time! :)

@all: I just spent a bit of time going back and posting a little 'I used this...' comment for each asset I used in my entry and wanted to encourage everyone else to do the same!   It's a nice way to say thanks and let people know they're stuff is being used.  If you link back to the Game Jam page (https://itch.io/jam/opengame-art-game-jam) it might have the bonus effect of bringing a few extra eyeballs to the jam also. ;)

EDIT:

oh, I should add that if you used the 'collections' feature of OGA to track which assets you were using it makes it especially easy to go back and add comments to each work.

Another reminder: IMPORTANT

As part of the rules in the game jam it states that all game entrys must include a credits page, or somewhere in game where it can be read that what assets have been used and who the asset is by. Failure to do this will result in your entry not being placed after ratiings have finished.

Please check and ensure your entrys have one, if not then you can update your game page or write in the comment sections on your game page.

 3) You must credit the Author of the assets used, even if it's not required by the license. You can do this by creating a 'Credits' menu on your title screen where you can show a list. (If you have an account with OGA, downloads are saved to a folder where there is a handy 'Credits File' you can use.)

Glad you said something, Chasersgaming. I have a credits page in-game, but I found out a few listings were missing (interestingly enough, the missing credits entries was preventing the assets in question from showing up in the game)

Played and rated all 16 (other than my own) games! You guys have some great games in this jam. I really enjoyed them... Though, I'm still catching up on adding a comment to the submission pages of all the assets I used.

Don't forget to rate them, people! You only have about one day left, and most of the games only have about 4 ratings so far! At least THIRTEEN of you are running out of time!

@medicinestorm I noticed a few so I thought I would mention it. In hiensight I should of been more clear on the rules, but you never know how these things pan out until you do them, first one ive ever done,it's a learning curve for me, maybe next time I will be more clear and instructive.

it is the last day to get your ratings everyone so those that haven't rated yet then it's time to get on it! :)

there should be at least 200+ ratings if my maths is correct and we are a bit shy on that figure so there are a few of you that haven't rated yet.

Played and rated everything.  Lots of good stuff!  You guys all did a great job!
Special thanks to chasergaming for setting everything up!

I thought the itch.io interface worked really well.  Very smooth, had never thought about how an online game jam should work, but they seem to have gotten it just about right.

My only feedback on the jam itself would be that next time we should find some way to let the public writ large vote.  Perhaps some kind of 'People's Choice' award of something.  I am guessing there's alot of ways that could go horribly wrong, but at the same time, it'd be great if non-contestants could participate somehow.  There are lots of folks on OGA who only do art, or just wouldn't have time to make a game for the jam, and it would be great to include them in the process somehow.

Next time I could open the ratings to public vote not just the participants, thought this was best to begin with.

Anymore feedback from the jam would be appreciated so I can consider it for when I do another.:)

thanks everyone! :)
