Hello and welcome back to another Blender tutorial. In this one I'll be showing you how to model an old fashioned flintlock, with textures and a fire animation which requires mechanical rigging! The image below is what the gun looks like when finished, with some added reflection maps to add detail to the metal.

Here's the finished model: http://opengameart.org/content/flintlock

Can't believe no-one has praised you for this yet, I guess OGA has really become too 2D centred.

I'm glad you llike them, and I agree with you. I think the main reason for this is because 2D games are a hell of alot easier to make than 3D games, no offence to those out there who are doing them of course. Therefore more people will be designing 2D games and would be interested less in the 3D art posts and tutorials, which is a shame.

I'm just learning to build games and have to agree with you djonvincent; 3D games are a hell of a lot harder to make than 2D games. Just to get a decent 2D game working can take weeks, maybe even months depending on the genra and play style used. That time might not include the endless hours spent polishing maps, GUI, play mechanics, etc. I haven't attempted to make anything 3D in recent years, especially not a game, but what I've tried in the past was lengthy and time-consuming at minimum.

Good luck with future endevors and well done with this tutorial!
