Looking for 2D tile based artist for collaboration on puzzle games (like sokoban, rockfall, boulderdash, chips challenge)
Hi All,
I'm searching for collaborators who can help with the art for my 2D block based puzzle games.
I've created my first game and it's currently in beta on Android/iOS (invite provided on request). You can see some screenshots here: https://www.rainfallgames.com/chemystery/
For our first collaboration I would like to update the art in this game. I'm fairly open on the style, as long as it works on a mobile screen. Typically I display a 16x16 grid of tiles at once. I'd also like to make the art consistent across gameplay/menus/icons/logos etc.
The scope is fairly limited:
- About 20 tile sprites (background / foreground items)
- About 5 menu screens with basic UI elements
- Any splashes/backgrounds/nice to haves
If we decide to work together I suggest:
- We discuss on skype/discord etc in realtime (bonus if you are in London, UK)
- We put together a style board to agree on the new appearance
- Go through the game together from start/finish to identify what we'll change
- Set a schedule and release date
On my side:
- The code is already complete, bar any fixes or changes need to support new art
- Releasing the game on both Android and iOS
- Test marketing via paid ads, forum posts etc. I will share the analytics/results with you.
On future collaborations:
My goal is to continue making similar games, increasing the scope/complexity incrementally. For my next project I will be making something similar to rockfall/boulderdash/chips challenge.
* Rockfall: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqUl_2bGUjE
* Boulderdash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiEVfa1OK_o&t=651s
* Chips challenge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcdMh1M7QLI
On the business side:
I do intend to monetize these games by including adverts, level packs etc, however I do not expect to make a great deal of money, if any, at this stage. I will be using these simpler projects to gain marketing experience.
Thanks for taking the time to read through my post!

chemystery!! very unique take on the block pushing concept !
What is wrong with the art you already have to be honest? It looks perfectly decent to me, what improvement would you need?
Hi Flofflewoffle,
Thanks for your feedback :)
I think there's a few areas that could be improved:
In all honesty, I also need experience in reaching out and working with others. I'd like to work on more ambitious games eventually but can't scale myself up. I wanted to put something basic out there first to show that I am a good bet to work with.
Well, you can have my discord, it's Flofflewoffle Flooferwoofer#6354 - this seems like a manageably-sized project, but I'm really not sure I can "improve" what you already have, I can have a small look at it though.
I make no promises that I'll actually stick with this project if it doesn't work out, however ^^
Hi
This is a background I did for a game that is a download on android at the moment.
I did a full game reskin for the author and another one of his games too. (but he massacred my graphics through resizing :) )
I can design you some nice piccys if you want and I live in Lancashire so same time zone.

hello, if what you need is to define an art style for your game, you must decide if you stay with sprites or vectors, in both cases send me a mp with the requirements of the files you need and we can see that it can come out.
Graphic designer with heart disease... oh the horror!!!
Hi All,
Thanks for your replies! I've been working on my next title while sorting out
admin on Chemystery.
Having checked out some other games I think a vector art style will be best. I thought it would be useful to attach some examples to this post.
I think a similar style would work well for chemystery with chemistry themed elements.
