Derivative works of Free characters?
Hello.
I am planning (or at least, would like to) create a couple of sprites depicting a non-OGA (but still freely licensed, CC0/public domain, to be exact) character. Considering OGA's policies about good will to authors, I was wondering if this would be alright?
Thanks for reading.

To my knowledge, since the character is in the public domain, I think it's permitted. You should properly attribute the character (such as providing links and other information) so OGA moderators can verify that you have the rights to use the character.
For clarity, by non-OGA, you mean a character that did not originate from OpenGameArt? And if you may, what is this character?
Yes, I mean outside of OGA, and I'm planning to do sprites of Xenia/LinuxFox by Alan Mackey, an unofficial Linux mascot. She was created in 1997 and originally released with an informal 'no-holds-barred' type license (you know, the simple 'I'm releasing this to be freely used' phrase and all that) on Mackey's personal website, but re-licensed to CC0 not too long after people rediscovering (and repopularizing) her in the early 2020's.
Was going to do the credits anyway, as I just think it's useful to the user no matter what license it's under. Thanks for answering!
Oh, and nice Cirno pfp, by the way. It's cute.
You're welcome! Yeah, you should be fine uploading sprites of LinuxFox onto OGA.
(Edit) Also, thanks for comment on my PFP.
