[FILLED] Official OGA Commission offer: $30 for jumping fish animation

Hey folks:

I'm putting up $30 to help the Unknown Horizons team with their fish swarm request, detailed here:

http://opengameart.org/forumtopic/fish-swarm-for-unknown-horizons

The amount isn't particularly high, but I'm accounting for the fact that we already have a good fish model that can be used in this commission:

Just wanted to say I'll be the acting as forum maintainer for the audio and music Forums. I am not the best but I have been doing my share of amateur and some professional work in audio and music. I am also taking tech corses in school for music and audio engineering. So as time goes on I should have more answers for you guys in what you need help with. For DAW's I use ableton, protools, reason, reaper/cubase and audacity. So if you have any questions using that software or wanting to know a trick or two. Just post it up in the forums.

We're working on the project: PagesOfAdventure.

What is it?

It's a top-down puzzle adventure set in a strange world. While playing you'll encounter several strange creatures, solve puzzles and walking through scenes.

What's the story?

What you see below is a screenshot from my WIP RPG tech demo.  The graphics may appear to be retro, but this is a stylistic choice, since they're attractive, readily available, and relatively easy to add on to.  The engine itself is capable of running at an arbitrary resolution, with arbitrary tile sizes.  It uses OpenGL for rendering, so it can also display 3D objects and cool particle effects without a whole lot of extra effort.  That being said, it is fundamentally a 2D engine, so building a 3D game out of it wouldn't be a particularly good choice. :)

Good recording environment?

I don't have a ton of cash to set up a real home recording studio.  How might I go about reducing background noise and increasing sound quality as much as possible?

How do I make monster sound effects?

The topic pretty much describes the question at hand...  what are some good techniques for making convincing monster sound effects?  I realize there are a lot of ways to go about it, but examples would be nice. :)

Ways to transform sounds?

So, since I'm just a dabbler in audio, I though I'd open with a question I've been wondering about for a while.  It seems to me like you ought to be able to get a lot of good sound effects by recording real-world sounds and then changing them in various ways.  I know of a few things you can do to a sound, but I'd like to know more.  Here's what I've thought of:

Programming

In addition to being an art geek, a web geek, and a geek in general, I'm also a big programming geek with a fair amount of experience programming game engines.  I'd be happy to answer any beginner programming questions you have, particularly pertaining to C, C++, PHP, and JavaScript.  I can probably answer basic questions about other languages too. :)
