Mech icons for a tactical mech roguelike
These are sprites and tiles for a "mech game" project, which, just like most of my projects, ended up abandoned. :)
The idea here was again to make turn-based tactical shooter, which would focus on mech combat...The Player would be the leader of a mercenary group, travelling around the universe looking for "action"; with possible political, strategic and RPG elements mixed into it...All the missions would be randomly generated, with random maps and random events...
And also there would have been a roguelike "real death" concept: when one of team members died in combat, they would stay dead forever...and if You yourself died, then it would be Game Over...no mercy. Every mission would have been a matter of life and death.
And I thought that this idea was very cool, and so I started this mammoth project, studied a lot of a mechwarrior related material, and made plans...but then the usual thing happened: I ran out of energy and motivation.
And so, again all that was left was unused sprites and tiles.
So here they are, pixel mech icons, with some building and terrain tiles. Take them and use them as you wish. :)

Oh, that sounds like a great game. Too bad that you canceled it. I would definitely have contributed if the game was still alive, even though I'd prefer some different art styles.
Do you maybe know the Crescent Hawks Inception? I loved that game. It was a Battletech/Mechwarrior RPG (Mechwarrior is actually the name of the Battletech pen & paper RPG ;) ).
Yes, I know the Crescent Hawks series, in fact both Crescent Hawks Inception and it's sequel Revenge were some of the main sources of my inspiration...those games combined RPG and strategy elements into a somewhat unique experience, and I thought that it would make a great game if that was expanded with "roguelike" and "infinite random gameplay" elements.
But it was a huge project for just one guy, and then I also found out that there already were quite many Battletech "fangames" out there, and then gradually I lost interest to the project. And also the plan was extremely ambitious; I planned to have some 500 different mech types in the game + air forces + maybe space forces, and also some kind of a political simulation running in the background...it would have been a huge mega project, and almost totally impossible for me to make alone lol.
But the concept sounds very good, and these days my programming skills are much better than what they were back then, so theoretically with some support I might be able to make this today...but just theoretically, because right now I have my hands 100% full in an another mega project called the M484 Game Creation System lol.
My artist is taking a 1 week pause from working on our TBS game, so I'm going to use the engine I developed to make a quick 48h game based on your art. I love 'em and I'd hate myself not using them for something. Will post a link when it's done.
So, I've imported the units and tiles in the engine and gave it a go. Gonna re-skin the UI, make some new maps and setup the units stats. Here's a small gif: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/23337718/mutant_gang_land/mech/mech_...

Wow, that preview image animation looks really cool. Finally my mechs see some real action after sitting in my project folders for many years. :D
Your game looks promising, good luck with it. The original game that I planned back then would have most likely looked pretty much like that. I'm very excited to see the final version. :)
