looking for 2D artist! (and maybe programmer in the godot engine)
(sorry bad english I'm using google translate) Hello, I'm creating an RPG inspired by Undertale and Mother, and then I'm really bad at creating sprites, so I need some kind soul that can do sprites for me :'v the game is fiction, with robots, computers and everything. it's based on the millennium bug, so it's fiction. if you want to see the story see here: https://justpaste.it/y2kstory (the writing is somewhat confusing due to the translation, sorry, I'll sort this out soon) the game takes place in an urban setting, like Mother. well, that's it, I hope someone answers: see my email: keyserexstrelow@gmail.com (I understand perfectly if you do not want to help, because I do not have much money, in fact I am poor, so I can not pay unfortunately) and also, if you are a programmer in Godot engine, this will also help a lot Thank you for reading <3
I could do some environment tiles / graphics.
Have you an idea how the sprites should look like? (tile size, perspective, art style...)
I also found some urban and fiction art packs here:
https://opengameart.org/content/lpc-skorpios-scifi-sprite-pack
https://opengameart.org/content/roguelike-modern-city-pack
https://opengameart.org/content/190-pixel-art-assets-sci-fi-forest
https://opengameart.org/content/space-scifi-rpg-tiles-48x48
I don't know if they are so useful, but I could make similar ones (for example in a different environment or a different art style)
Well, what else combines is the "Modern city pack", because as I said, the game has a scenario similar to the series Mother / Earthbound
Can you give me your e-mail? If you can make modern city tiles and etc, it will look perfect
you can PM me (I can also send you my mail per PM if you want)...
Edit: The modern city pack has already a lot of sprites, that could be used.
Do you really need something new ??
Maybe you could use that existing pack, but I could also create a new one that looks a bit different or make an exsension pack that can be used with this city pack.
the player sprite can be downscaled to 1/3 of its size.It shows how the player sprite looks with 16x16 and 32x32 tiles...
Hmmm ... interesting
I tried to do this but of all sizes the sprite was bugged.
Did you do it just with that sprite or with any spritesheet? If done with spritesheet, post it here and so I can use the tileset "Modern City Pack" (but still, I'll need new tiles, specific tiles of the game, which is practically impossible to find)
I scaled down the player sprite sheet, one single sprite is now 32x20 pixels large.
When scaling a sprite it gets blurry by default, in gimp there is an option to set interpolation to none - which I used when scaling down the player sprite.
What new specific tiles do you need?
One of those tiles that I need is a "robot factory" style tileset, which is one of the game locations.
It is similar to the "Belch's Factory" game Mother 2 (image below)
however, the camera is orthogonal, not isometric as in Mother 2.
The resolution is just like the "Modern City Pack" which is 16x16.
I do not know if you need more details ... it's really just that, I think.
i made some first tiles, more are coming... (Note that the image is scaled x2)
nice ^^
i made some progress again, it's not finished yet...
Today I fixed some small issues I found and completed other tiles I made before.
Cool! well, can you make a version of these tiles, however, with a more "creepy" environment? as if everything was abandoned, etc ...
and also the front part of this place, or the outside, in the city. with a board written "JVBot Inc." (the name of the factory)
here my progress again
I also made some cracked floor tiles, this looks already a little bit abandoned for me, but I will add some more destroyed / broken tiles (broken walls, leaking pipes...), also more electronics are coming (broken / destroyed ones too).
After I finished this tileset I will make the outside...
nice^^
i made some more broken tiles now...
i made some more electronics ( a computer, screen, wires and a switch). I will finish the tileset soon (I make the outside for the factory as a seperate part)...
here is the finished tileset now. I make a small pause before making the outside with that board / sign showing the name of the factory.
I also want to upload / submit that tileset here soon if this is ok for you.
Ok thanks!
You can submit the tileset, no problem!
I updated the tileset again (I fixed a small issue that I saw when creating the preview images for the submission). You can find this version here.
So, what's the "view" (the screen size that should be displayed) that I should use in the game? I already tried with the resolution of the game in 1024x768, but the player was tiny, I tried smaller ones but it got bad ... so which one should i use?
Do you mean with "the player was tiny" how large it appears on the screen ? (Or the player size compared to the tileset?)
I think you can adjust the size of an element (like the player sprite and the tileset) without changing the resolution too.
You can try the default resolution and some others too (I don't have so much experience with resolutions yet)
the player appears on the screen too much tiny, compared to tileset, and i dont know why....i will try in another resolutions/views
maybe a screenshot could help me finding the issue.
Hi guys am a godot programmer (can't call myself an expert yet) but pls can i join up in this?
@Taofeek
yes you can, the more the better!
I'm still a beginner in godot xd but I can go learning ...
I already have someone else to help with code too, we can do it together
@rubberduck
oh, no more xd, I fixed this problem ... but before he was like the picture below ...
Interesting project, seems like you're assembling quite a team here ^^
tbh I can do some graphics too, but it will be infrequent at best.
yeah, I'm building a small team, I think that's a lot better, each one does one thing and so we work as a team and the game can even launch faster!
and there are also things I do not know how to do, for example music, so I created a topic here a while ago and you answered:
i know how to do sprites, however I am HORRIBLE about it, I do not know how to create my own way, the Player sprite (my avatar here in OGA), I created it using Mother 4 sprites as a base ... and the sprites of Izabelle (another character in the game) I just can not even get a base sprite ... it's very difficult to do the hair ...
and what impresses me with this is that I do pixel-art for 2 years ... and even today I do not know how to do well, so I'm looking for people to do ...
so far the people involved in the project:
KeyserEX (programmer, mapping and story creation)
Anna Beatriz (story creation)
Eduardo Ramalho (story creation)
Spring (musician)
rubberduck (tileset maker)
Subcero Hector (programmer, maybe a sprite maker)
taofeek (maybe a programmer)
oh, spring, did you have discord? i will create a server with practically everyone involved in the project. programmers, sprite makers, etc ...
Yes, I do, it's
Spring-Enterprises#6354
in case you need to talk about anything,
Hi
I would love if u create an cloud folder (github, dropbox to mention few) so that it will be easy to make changes and add to the game
My discord I'd is Sana#4732
